Pin Worms..what is their purpose anyway?

Over the past year someone in our family has had these awful squiggly wigglers.  They are more annoying than anything else, due to itching rectum and like lice are highly contagious.  Whats amazing to me is the debate between health care professionals on how these things are transmitted.  Obviously its hand to mouth but where do they come from?  They can only live in someones colon and the eggs survive up to 2 weeks on surfaces.  They don’t come from cats or dogs, they carry a different kind of round worm that doesn’t inhabit people.   Great!  To make things even more interesting-You may have pin worms and not even know it!  Like cooties!

Mild pin worm infections, or those with no symptoms, may never need treatment, as the body eventually rids itself of these parasites.

My question is kind of like the egg and the chicken.  Which came first and who was the unfortunate one to begin it all?  How would you like to be that person?  What did the community do?  Were the infected ones banished like those who had leprosy?  How did they rid themselves of the annoying rump itching?  This seems to go back to ancient Rome.  How do we know this?  Some luck palentologist found evidence!

I really hate these things because right when we seem to have conquered them someone else shows signs of infection.  We have done everything we could possibly do to rid ourselves of these parasites but to no avail.  We wash our hands before eating and after elimination.  Everyone showers/bathes on a regular basis.  The kids aren’t as apt to bath everyday but definitely getting the whole hand washing thing down.  I wash linens, clothing, and toys almost weekly (which is really annoying mind you).

The gravid female migrates to the anus and deposits eggs in the perennial skin folds, usually at nighttime. The movement of the female and the ova cause intense local itching. Ova may survive for up to 3 weeks before hatching. The hatched larvae can then migrate back into the anus and lower intestine, causing retro infection. Embryonic eggs may be released into the air or onto fomites(ie: bedding, clothing, toys, paper money) or onto hands and then placed directly into the mouth and swallowed (auto infection), after which they settle in the small intestines

So not to gross anyone out but this is our ritual for about a year and the lovely view.

I will examine for these wretched  things but refuse to touch them!  They just creep me out!

After reading these articles and link to The Life Tree “Purify”.  I may order this parasite cleanse for the intestines of our whole family.  I will consult a Naturopathic Doctor of course because regular Doctors are idiots and have told us conflicting information too many times!

Here are some quotes from the above links.

Over 200 million people worldwide are thought to be infested by pin worms with 30 to 40 million living in the United States. This worm is found in both warm and cold climates and no socioeconomic group is immune to infection. It is commonly found in crowded institutions such as day-care centers, schools, hospitals and orphanages. It is most prevalent in children. They are tiny, 2-13 millimeters, and ivory or pearly-white in color. Eighty percent of the children between 2 and 10 years of age contract pinworms at some time.

…there are over 3000 varieties of parasites…

…all of the natural components and herbs in the Purify formula have been used for centuries and centuries. They have proved to be extremely beneficial in the cleansing of toxins and parasites out of the human body throughout the times of Chinese Empire, the Egyptian Empire, the Greek Empire, the Roman Empire, the old Turkish Empire, and through the history of the Mediterranean cultures.

It does, however, make me feel better to know that this isn’t reflective of my house cleaning or mean that we are dirty people!  We are like everyone else but just know we have parasites vs others that have them and are oblivious!

  1. Did you ever have any luck with the pinworms?

Our family of nine has them again, the second time in a year, I’m so stinking frustrated, I feel like attacking this from within, by eating vegan, juicing and taking paragone, we tried Humaworm, the hardest part for me is all the washing and drying and putting clean underwear on the kids and washing their bums.

  2. We are hoping to not get them again but won’t know for sure until we are symptom free another month or so and even then, it only takes touching something infected with eggs, injesting them and starting the whole cycle over again. We did a parasite and colon cleanse, as well as prescriptions to kill the worms just as recent as this september.

Our kids are 4 to 7 years old, so getting them to wash their hands before eating and after eliminating is the biggest thing. As well as trimming their nails and everyone takes showers in the morning since egg laying activity is mostly at night. It is highly annoying and I wash laundry everyday, wipe down surfaces and clean toilets, vacuum, sweep and mop 2-3 times weekly. Our electric bill is enormously higher last month than prior months due to all the hot water washing!

I wish I had better news! Trying to break the cycle has been almost devastating to my being due to the inability to rid our bodies of this very stubborn parasite! All the natural books suggest vegan diets and cutting out sugar, flour, etc. I just can’t afford to switch our diets and do all that at the moment. If you go vegan and take paragon let me know how that works for you!

  3. Pyrantel pamoate administered as a dose of 11 mg per kg body weight (maximum 1 g) and repeated in two weeks. It’s available without a prescription in the US. Otherwise, go see your physician and ask him for Albendazole 400 mg, once repeated in 2 weeks. They’ll be gone.

  4. Well, I was thinking about the carts at the grocery stores, since babies and small children, possibly still in diapers, are often in the part at the front, where one may make frequent hand contact, eh?

Some supermarkets now offer wet tissue and the like to do something to the cart before using it.

  5. I have pinworms and i am extremely embaressed about telling my family1 Me growing up in a strict indian family is hard. At first, i thought it was just puberty though, me being just 12. Then i was itchy in my vagina and thats when i saw them. I was really scared at first, thinking something was wrong in my vagina, they appeard in my discharge too. I hated it. I tried my best removing me and they caused me a lot of itching in the night. I hate them so much. Trying to getr id of them is hard and i had no idea how i caught them. Im now 13 and i still have them. Help!?!

    • From what I have read about pin worms, the ones that enter the vagina will die out. If you can, get som tee tree oil and apply it every night, that should help. I think that’s what finally did it for my family. Wash everything in hot water, wash your hands, and clip your nails very short. When you scratch you are unknowingly spreading more eggs. Please don’t be embarrased to tell your family. My husband lived with pinworms for a whole year because of shame and ended up spreading them to his cousins that he lived with. Go to the doctor if you can and you may have to take several treatments to be rid of them. This is one stubborn parasite to get rid of but it can be done. Also, a lot of people get them. A lot. Nobody likes to talk about it though. It’s not like you intentionally got pinworms. You can ingest the eggs and not even know it because of something you touched was already contaminated. I hope that helps! Hang in there!

  6. That is just sick. I used 2 have Pin Worms and let me tell u,they arent something u wuna catch, cause they itch like crazy and u get so tempted to stick a mirror down by where they are and look and u just keep grabbing them out and before u know it you rip part of your tissue and then you start bleding down there.

  7. i have them and i am 14 what do i do

    • you are 14 you go tell your mom and she can arrange a visit with a doctor they may have to verify it and then they give you a perscription from the doctor.

  8. i had them for a very long time like they go away and i get them ota vez agian i feel like killing myself what the fuck am i going do man my ass hole hurt i know i got from some nasty bathroom.

  9. ive had pin worm twice now, im 19 and cant get rid of them, when i was younger we tried all things and got rid of them, now i have them again, im clean also = (

    • i’m 19 now. i had worms back when i was 17 and the doctor gave us the medicine. i hated seeing them wiggle in the toilet. ever since, i always checked my stool but it always looked good. i’m so worried about getting them again. now tonight it looked like i got worms again.. but they don’t look the same. i will give it some time. i don’t got insurance now and i am not sure if they would do it for free. i will try garlic and other foods i heard are natural.

  10. its disguisting, theyre in your discharge and everywhere.

  11. My vegina iches like crazy… but I stopped shaving. Can u poop a worm out? Can it move to your vegina? I wonder if your period can clean the worms out? Hmm

    • Yes you can and do but they are dead. The live ones reproduce, lay eggs around the anus andthen the whole cycle repeats itself.

  12. Ahhhh I wana kill myself or stab a Rocket Launcher up my ass, I am only 13 and my brother had it, but at that time we didn’t know what it was until today when I went for a, you know….. I had seen it that that thing wriggling…. I am so embarassed and scared I don’t want to tell my Mum so i got my brother to tell her…….
Jesus man, sorry for my blasphemy
